After working on a private area of this luxury hotel, we were appointed to design the lighting scheme for the public areas and entrance. The client required a flexible scheme, to automatically respond to the changes in the environment throughout the day and night.

A stunning bespoke chandelier

To emphasise the double height space in the reception area, a 6m bespoke chandelier was designed and supplied, creating a beautiful focal point, establishing a sense of space. Chandeliers provide a warm and welcoming feel to any space and are an ideal solution for lighting areas with high ceilings. The lights of the chandelier are reflected and refracted in its crystals and glass, creating a warm atmosphere.

Concealed lighting was used to ceiling coffers and pitched ceilings to enhance the volume and opulence of the space.

Staircase lighting for added ambience during evening hours
In-ground uplights were used to enhance columns and architectural features. Low-level wall recessed lights were used within the feature stone staircase to enhance its presence and provide added visibility to stair treads during the evening.

We designed and supplied a lighting control system that is linked to an astronomical clock to provide automatic lighting control in foyers and corridors. This provides correct and precise illumination levels throughout the day e.g. morning, evening, night time with motion sensing to certain areas.

Automatic lighting control means a seamless change from day to night
The ability to set scenes and change light levels depending on the time of day is also an energy saving technique. The lighting control system allows the client to use the correct amount of energy for the desired application.

Automatic lighting control in the foyer and reception areas of the hotel allows the client to present the interior correctly for each time of the day using the right amount of energy. Lighting control also makes it easier for the staff to change the mood providing a seamless, uninterrupted change from day to night.
