A lighting designer can help transform your space by specifying the luminaires to change the mood and atmosphere of both interiors and gardens at the touch of a button. Whether inside or out, putting the right lighting in place can enhance the current architecture and create the mood and aesthetics you desire. We offer a bespoke tailor-made lighting design service combining our technical and creative skills to deliver seamless projects.

To ensure your project can reach to its full potential, the lighting design should be done at an early stage before any electrical work where we can offer end-to-end solutions providing lighting design, control, project support and supply to any project. Our work includes residential and commercial lighting, new builds and upgrades, offering tailored solutions for various project requirements.
Our Lighting Design Process
Our structured lighting design process can be adapted to suit any project and helps you and your team to stay informed with the information you need. We can help you create a practical and stunning lighting design to your requirements. The stages below highlight our full process. Certain stages may not apply, and some stages may be combined or modified to suite the requirement of the projects depending on budget, timescale, and scope.

INITIAL ENQUIRY
The process begins with your enquiry. You can contact us using this contact form, please provide some drawings or photographs if relevant, we will then arrange a discussion about your aims and aspirations for the project, and also any further details on the project such as any listed / conservation status.
If your enquiry relates commercial project, we will also discuss the business goals that you want the lighting design to support.

FEE PROPOSAL
We will study your plans and brief to create an accurate proposal detailing the process and deliverables for the lighting design elements and any additional charges that may be applicable during the course of the design.

KICK START MEETING
We then kick off with a conversation in collaboration with you and your key design partners.
The topics we will discuss with you include:
- Project brief
- Project programme and coordination
- Forumulation of design direction
- Architectural features, furniture layouts and finishes
- Control options (e.g. switches, dimmers, occupancy sensors, or scene setting systems)
- Details on any listing, conservation status etc
This is a crucial meeting as we will aim to understand as much as we can about the architecture and interior/garden design for each space.
We will require AutoCAD DWGs and PDFs (electronic formats) of your floor plans including all floors and areas, sections and details.

INITIAL DESIGN CONCEPT
Our design team will begin to create an initial lighting design concept proposal.
At this stage we will need to know the furniture layouts, fabrics, finishes, any artworks, interior, and exterior details. The more information and details we have, the more effective and efficient your lighting solution will be.
We will develop the lighting scheme, generate plans, concepts and moodboards. Once we have an idea of your creative vision, lighting layouts will be drawn up to indicate position of each light fitting, circuit number and control.

CONCEPT PRESENTATION
Our design team will meet with you to present our lighting design concept. We will present copies of your project alongside pictures and drawings of your lighting design plan designs. We discuss lighting control route options and motorised blinds if relevant.
This is also an opportunity for us to incorporate any feedback from the client.

DETAILED DESIGN
After you’ve given us your feedback, we’re ready to start the detailed design.
We’ll prepare and finalise the:
- final lighting layouts for all areas
- final dimming/switching group drawings
- notes and schematics related to specific installation requirements for specialist luminaires
- wiring schematic for scene-setting lighting control system
- load schedule, circuit by circuit
- luminaire schedules
- control requirements with costs for the supply of equipment
We will also identify the locations, type, and position of wall-mounted lighting controls. As part of the detailed design, we will prepare and present product datasheets for all luminaires and light fittings detailing technical info. We take great care with the quality performance and longevity of life with the products offered so we ensure all luminaires presented are tested and ensured quality. We will provide you and your team with information and details suitable for construction on site, developed plans required to achieve the lighting design scheme.

SITE VISITS
Site visits are an integral part of the design process. We may have visited site during the initial process, and this helps us confirm our designs in reality, and be informed of any changing site conditions and any architectural elements in preparation.

REVISIONS
Throughout the course of your project, some designs may be developed, requirements may have changed, or unforeseen obstacles may arise and so revisions may be required.

PROCUREMENT AND DELIVERY
After the lighting design plan has been agreed and confirmed, we will process your order and deliver when you are ready for the goods to be delivered to site. All orders are packed on a circuit by circuit, room by room basis for ease of installation on site. We build and prepare the back-end lighting control panels off site based on the lighting design, and we will fine tune it onsite when the control system is commissioned. This saves time on site and makes it easier for your electrician.

INSTALLATION
Your electrical contractor will install the equipment, alternatively, dependant on your location we may be able to recommend an electrical contractor .

COMMISSION
As part of our design service we will check your project is working and this allows us to finesse any lighting effects ensuring they are lighting the details we intend to light. We will program scenes and refine lighting moods, using either a keypad or smartphone. We will confirm all the lights are used to the best advantage and your control systems aligns with your requirements.
