After delivering a landscape lighting scheme and lighting design to the games room area at this contemporary home, our scope of work extended to the open plan kitchen and dining area. In close collaboration with the client and design team, we designed a timeless, elegant lighting scheme to accentuate the modern interiors.

The open plan area is a multi-functional and airy space, where several activities take place throughout the day. We designed and supplied the lighting and lighting control system, enhancing the space and lifestyle for the homeowner.
A combination of decorative and architectural lighting is used, achieving the perfect balance between function and aesthetic styling. In the kitchen area, glare free task lighting was used, providing illumination to the worktops and cooker areas, aiding culinary tasks and food preparation.
Carefully positioned spotlights and downlights were used, providing directional light onto the island and a warm glow of light onto the space. These can be set to a bright light intensity, when cooking and food preparation is taking place, or dimmed down to provide a warmer ambience during evening dinners and gatherings.

Wayfinding enhances functionality and ambience during the evening

Integrating LED light fittings in the plinth skims low-level light across the stone floors, providing sufficient light at night to support intuitive way finding, without being harsh on the eyes. Subtle wayfinding is a wonderful way of incorporating gentle light into the scheme for usage during the evening and night.
Above the island, simple decorative pendants were specified, providing a warm ambience whilst creating a statement piece and contrast. Lighting above the dining area brightens the centre of the space for dining and evening gatherings ensuring a soft and comfortable ambience is created.

Light creates a sense of drama and enhances the spatial dynamics

Discreet colour matched LED spotlights concealed on beams within the open frame ceiling, provide an even wash of light into the open plan area. Concealed LED up-light to the pitched ceiling creates a sense of drama and height to the space, delivering shadow-free illumination at all points during the day.
The mood is warm and relaxing, perfectly harmonising with the modern interiors, highlighting the artwork and unique textures, establishing a comfortable and central space within the home.

Scene setting control allows you to curate distinct atmospheres

The lighting control system for the kitchen diner is tailored to the distinctive characteristics of each space and the preferences of the homeowners. We used LED fixtures that offer smooth and silent, flicker-free dimming across a broad spectrum of light, allowing the client to adapt light levels in harmony with their living spaces and daily activities. The integration of scene setting further enhances control and convenience, enabling effortless adjustments in the environment through a single button press from multiple locations within the space.
