This project is a stunning Grade II listed character property, combining historical elegance with modern day-living. We designed a flexible lighting scheme for this luxurious heritage home, with its charming courtyard and open plan areas, accentuating its timeless architecture. We ensured the preservation of this period property was retained with the introduction of lighting solutions that would enhance both functionality and ambience, in line with the building guidelines.
The first floor of this elegant grade listed building features vaulted ceilings and exposed beams. To complement the open and airy feel, concealed linear lighting to the architectural beams and purlins was specified, emphasising the height of the pitched ceilings.

Ambient illumination enhances comfort and style

Ambient lighting in the bedrooms, paired with up and down wall lighting enhances the materials and textures of the modern interiors, adding a layer of warmth and sophistication.

Linear lighting creates a captivating floating effect

The ground floor features a spectacular open plan kitchen and dining area and a cozy family snug area.

In the kitchen area, concealed linear uplighting creates a warm, ambient feel within the family living space. The lighting is positioned to add depth and dimension to the space, contributing to the sophisticated and rich interior design aesthetics. Downlights mounted into the kitchen extractor canopy highlights the stone splashback whilst providing sufficient lighting for food preparation.

Low glare, discreet, general downlighting enhances daily activities, whilst task lighting provides focused illumination to countertops and cooking surfaces, ensuring sufficient illumination. Above the island, glass pendant lighting generates focused, atmospheric pools of light, serving as both a functional and decorative element.
Artwork lighting contributes to the overall ambience

Carefully positioned downlighting in the dining area provides ambient illumination to the artworks and decor, introducing a soft, modern touch.

The family living area is a rich and luxurious space with deep and soft fabrics and unique artworks. Discreet downlighting provides warm light, and decorative wall lighting adds a beautiful glow enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal.
Lighting in the open plan kitchen dining and living area can be dimmed down to low level, to create more atmospheric scenes to suit evening meals and family gatherings. Scene control over each of these individual areas allows the client to set different atmospheres tailored to different activities.

The basement area is a dedicated cinema and entertainment room. We ensured the lighting design is flexible, allowing the client to set different moods enhancing film viewings and social gatherings.

Lighting to the sleek modern bar area is all about creating subtle focus and an element of glamour. We used concealed linear lighting to the joinery, creating additional accents and drama to the space. Linear lighting to the bar area provides ample illumination for entertainment and socialising, whilst adding a stylish flair to the space.
Creating a stylish basement retreat
Whether used for functional purposes or to set a vibrant mood, linear lighting to the dropped ceiling elevates the entertainment and cinema room, transforming it into a luxurious and immersive space.

The property also features a sub-basement level, offering a luxurious gym studio complete with a sauna and jacuzzi. Concealed linear lighting, epitomises elegance, comfort and sophistication, emphasising the space and the barrelled ceiling.

Lighting can be dimmed to deliver a calming ambience
Wall lights around the jacuzzi enhances the atmosphere, providing soft illumination making it an inviting retreat for leisure and relaxation. Concealed linear lighting beneath the jacuzzi creates a floating effect that enhances its visual appeal and contributes to a calming ambience, especially when the lights are dimmed.

The lighting is control via a scene setting system, with control over each area across all the floors, allowing the client to achieve the perfect ambience to suit modern living, whether its a cozy evening, a vibrant gathering or a peaceful moment of relaxation.
Scene setting achieves the perfect balance between practical illumination and mood-setting lighting providing an adaptable environment that meets the diverse needs of the clients lifestyle.

The scene setting system offers several convenient features for the client, including seamless integration with the security system to simulate occupancy. The lighting is connected to the security alarms, enabling timed lighting sequences to run automatically when the homeowner is away, giving the appearance that the property is occupied.

Bedside keypads and keypads by the exit door allows the clients to turn off all the lights in the house with a single button press – a particularly convenient feature in a four-storey home. This control feature enhances ease of use, providing added comfort and efficiency in managing the lighting across multiple floors.
